Twitter recently announced its quarterly results. Which revealed that the social network’s user base grew only slightly on first quarter figures: from 308 million to 316 million users this quarter. That’s a mere 15% increase on the same time last year. Not enough! De Tijd asked the opinion of a handful of Flemish Twitterati, including our own @WimVdL: is Twitter overstretched?
According to Wim, Twitter needs to search for a ‘Unique Selling Proposition’. “It’s an interesting medium for niche groups, such as journalists, comms & media professionals and politicians,” Wim told the Flemish financial newspaper De Tijd. “To reach a bigger audience, they need to hone their focus. The investment non-users have to make before extracting value from the platform is simply too big.”
